Missions, Operations, and Cycles

Spend Intel on Operations inside the current Cycle, then complete one Tactical Mission to advance time. Both types can expire, so every Cycle needs a clear priority.

Operations are strategic commitments

Operations appear on the Galaxy Map, consume Intel, and resolve without entering the tactical battle layer. They can grant Credits, Weapon Mods, Utilities, later content, or choices with Bond and campaign consequences. Read the reward and expiry timer before funding one.

Tactical Missions deploy the squad

Tactical Missions contain the turn-based battles and provide Intel for future Operations. Completing one moves the campaign to the next Cycle. Story missions can add small third-person exploration sections before combat, while Skirmish Missions allow a freer squad composition.

Expiring opportunities shape each campaign

Operations and Tactical Missions can expire. Critical story missions eventually become mandatory, while optional opportunities compete for the same limited time and resources. Each campaign therefore leaves some optional paths unexplored.

Choose the next action with four checks

  • Expiry: which useful opportunity disappears after the next Tactical Mission?
  • Intel: which Operation can the company afford now, and what reward fixes an immediate need?
  • Readiness: are injuries, equipment, and the four selected roles ready for deployment?
  • Pressure: is a story mission close to becoming mandatory, making an optional detour too expensive?
