Bonds reward repeated cooperation and campaign choices. Each level can grant permanent benefits to both Operators, so squad rotation becomes a progression decision.

What changes a Bond

Cross Training is permanent progression
When a Bond level increases, both Operators can receive a permanent combat stat bonus. A maximum Bond can unlock special Cross Training with a passive ability.
Rotate one slot, not the whole squad
Keep three established jobs and rotate the fourth Operator through compatible roles. That maintains a coherent battle plan while opening new pairings across the roster.
Bonds are not romance
EA has explicitly stated that Zero Company has no romance system. Treat Bond dialogue and mechanical rewards as company relationships, not as a hidden romance route.
